Hartley De Sales football club itself was formed over 15 years ago. The aim of the club is to provide football for the children of Hartley and the local parishes.
Originally two junior clubs were formed in Hartley: De Sales United which was formed by Father Ryan in 1993, through the St Francis De Sales Church on Church Road and Hartley Juniors which had children mainly from Hartley Primary CE. Hartley Juniors was formed by parents of children who wished to play football.
Around 7 years ago the two clubs merged to form a single Junior Hartley Team - the name Hartley De Sales was chosen as a way of merging the two teams.
Around 2002 the opportunity arose to link to Hartley Country Club which offered facilities for the children which were and are second to none. Consequently junior football is still relatively new at Hartley Country Club.
All at Hartley De Sales support the FA Respect campaign and the club hopes to achieve F.A. chartered status this season, this means our managers and coaches have minimum FA. Level 1 coaching, have attended the child safety workshop - have CRB checks and are first aid trained.
